More than Basic PowerPoint
Pamela Boyer Sayre, CG, CGL

Wow audiences at your family reunion or your next professional presentation with some of the “gee-whiz” features of Microsoft PowerPoint®. This live demonstration shows just how easy it is to put together an outline and then create a slide-by-slide presentation. You’ll learn basic concepts as well as more advanced features such as use of animation and sounds. Since computer-related presentations often require a speaker to start up and use several different programs in a given hour, PowerPoint’s ability to link to another application is also shown. You’ll see how to view your own notes and slide sequences on your computer monitor while the audience sees only the PowerPoint slides on the screen.

A lecturer may be fortunate enough to use the power and convenience of PowerPoint’s features “live” via a projector. This presentation discusses the importance of preparation and pre-lecture checks to ensure that all equipment functions as it should, and the need for a backup plan. For those who do not have access to a projector, the lecture will show how easy it is to print out color or black and white overhead transparencies, handouts with miniature versions of the screens, and a master script with speaker’s notes printed right below the slide.
