Everything You Need to Know About Computer Classes
Pamela Boyer Sayre, CG, CGL
There's more to staging a computer class than finding a few computers and stepping up to the podium.
This lecture provides suggestions for finding a facility and equipment, determining class size, optimally
arranging the room, advertising, and pricing the class. It further defines the experience and role of the
instructor, and how students should be screened for necessary knowledge and skills. These considerations
apply to individual classes, all-day seminars, or to regular Computer Interest Group meetings.
(Instructor has ten years' experience as a technical communicator and PC software trainer, and she is
past chair of the St. Louis Genealogical Society Computer Interest Group. She has also developed and
taught computer genealogy classes at St. Louis Community College.
